A study has reported on a 6-week Pilates intervention program in women with chronic low-back pain. The study evaluated the effects of Pilates on functional balance, fear of falling, and pain, in women 65 years or older who suffered from low-back pain. The study found an improvement in fear of falling, functional mobility, and balance in women who participated in the 6-week Pilates course. In addition, this group of women also had better results in terms of pain, compared with women who had physiotherapy treatment only.
