About Neurological Disorders
A neurologist is a medical professional who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system.
This includes the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) the peripheral nervous system (peripheral nerves of both the autonomic and somatic nervous systems) and their associated vascular tissue (blood vessels) and effector tissue (muscles, organs, etc.).
Structural, biochemical, or electrical abnormalities in these regions can result in a range of symptoms that may include but are not limited to paralysis, muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, pain, and altered levels of consciousness.
Symptoms vary greatly depending on the type of neurological disorder.
