What is Kinesiology?

In simple terms, Kinesiology is the study of human movement, performance, and function.

Kinesiology is now a regulated health profession in Ontario.

The College of Kinesiologists of Ontario is the regulating body and aims to hold practitioners to certain standards so that the patients/clients are better protected, and are receiving safe and ethical care.

Kinesiology services can also be covered under many insurance plans.

What is a Kinesiologist?

A Kinesiologist is a practitioner that is registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Only someone that is registered can call themselves a Kinesiologist or use the “R.Kin” designation.

They use the latest evidence-based research to help treat and prevent injury along with improving overall movement or performance. They can work with people of all ages and abilities to help them achieve their health and wellness goals.

They also work in various settings and areas such as Health Promotion, Injury Rehabilitation, Pain and Chronic Disease Management, Ergonomics, Fitness, and Public Health just to name a few.

Our on-staff Kinesiologist can help you through the use of various assessments and treatments. Some of these include:

What to expect

At your initial appointment, our kinesiologist will go over any related medical history and evaluate your problem area(s).

Treatment plans vary depending on patient assessment and patient goals but can include at-home exercises and regular appointments with our kinesiologist.

Many patients feel results after the initial appointment, but it is important to follow through with the entire treatment plan to maintain and improve results.

Each appointment is 45 minutes long.

How to prepare

In order to provide the best care to patients, it is important that our Kinesiologist has all the necessary background information. Please bring any medical documents or medication related to the area or condition being treated.

Please wear loose and comfortable clothing, as our Kinesiologist will examine the area of concern.

This service is not covered under OHIP, but some private insurance companies may cover or partially cover the cost.
