Interferential Current Therapy (IFC)

Interferential Current (IFC)Therapy is a form of electrical stimulus therapy that helps to decrease acute and chronic pain. IFC alters or interrupts the painful signals that travel from injured tissues to your brain by combining two low frequency electrical pulses deep inside the tissue, creating a third frequency which causes the interruption; it can decrease the pain and improve circulation within the injured tissues.

IFC is similar to a TENS unit, but works at a much deeper level of the targeted tissue and requires the direction of a trained health care professional. IFC is useful for individuals with pain, muscle spasms, strains, or inflammation. It is important to perform a thorough patient evaluation before proceeding with this therapy.
