Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massages have developed from traditional use of stones in Native American and Japanese culture. It is also a form of thermo-therapy as the stones themselves are usually basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. This specialty massage is where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones by placing it on the body and pain areas or by their hands as extension to massage. With this therapy the body experiences deep penetrating heat and the weight of the stones as they just melt away tense muscles, any type of stress and pain. The heat produced allows the trigger points to dissolve and fade off with minimal resistance.

Some of the advantages of hot stone massage include; increase in lymphatic circulation, reduction in muscle or joint pain, headaches, decrease in menstrual and sciatic pain.
